for the Summer Season
After last summer’s beautiful warm weather, many clients at RIRI Laser Clinic in Kegworth are asking how to best care for their skin and whether Laser Hair Removal is suitable while maintaining a tan.
If you’re having laser treatments during hotter weather, protecting your skin is essential. Always apply sunblock and avoid sunburn. If you’ve recently been sun burnt or had increased sun exposure, please inform your Laser Technician so we can adjust your treatment and ensure your skin remains safe, healthy, and well cared for.
Use Sunscreen
Always apply a high-quality sunblock—not just between laser hair removal treatments, but daily. We recommend using a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 50 and, where possible, choosing a mineral-based sunblock containing zinc oxide. This offers stronger, longer-lasting protection for your skin.

If you’ve recently experienced sunburn, laser treatments should be postponed until your skin has fully healed. Laser treatments generate additional heat, which can further irritate or damage sunburned skin.
Avoid Sunburn
UV exposure can be harmful to the skin and should never be followed immediately by a laser treatment. It’s important to allow your skin to recover completely before continuing with laser sessions, as treating compromised skin can reduce effectiveness and increase the risk of irritation.

Protecting your skin at all times by wearing effective sunblock or limiting sun exposure is essential if you’re considering or undergoing laser hair removal.
Tanning Products
While many sunless tanning products provide excellent results, they should also be avoided before laser hair removal treatments. These products often contain chemicals and oils that may react adversely with laser energy.

Please be open with your laser technician about any tanning products you’ve used, so we can help keep your skin healthy, smooth, and safe.
